Description
Dried Liquorice Root – 25g
Liquorice has a sweet but slightly salty flavour. It is quite similar to aniseed and fennel in taste. It is used in a wide array of cuisines from deliciously spicy curries to delectable desserts and drinks.
Left to infuse in hot water it is surprising the amount of sugar that the root produces. This infusion can be made into wine or added to ginger beer. It can also be added as a botanical to add to gin.
All gins contain juniper berries as a base flavour. Additional ingredients are then added and infused into the gin to give it a unique flavour.
The amount of dried liquorice root added to your gin depends on how strong you want the flavour to be. The recommended amount of dried liquorice root to infuse into gin is around 3 tablespoons per 750ml.
Gins containing liquorice include Bombay sapphire gin, Beefeater gin, Bedrock gin and Gordon’s gin.
