Festival Father Hooks Best Bitter
Festival Father Hooks Best Bitter is a high-quality premium 3kg beer kit. Everything you need to brew a superb best bitter is included in the box (except water). Festival Father Hooks Best Bitter features a malty body with a wonderful orange marmalade character, perfectly balancing the malts with hop bitterness from the Bramling Cross and Apollo hops. This Festival beer kit provides a luminous amber finish with a white head.
This kit includes a 50g sachet of hop pellets for a stunning hop aroma, along with a 100g sachet of priming sugar to ensure proper conditioning of bottles or barrels.
Hop bitterness of the Festival Father Hooks Best Bitter is 3.5 (on a scale of 1-5). The kit produces a target alcohol content of 4.5% ABV (approx). The Festival Father Hooks Best Bitter kit contains high-quality ingredients and easy to follow step-by-step instructions. Each kit makes 40 pints of premium ale
Festival Premium Ale Kits also contain hop pellets and priming sugar. Simply add the hop pellets halfway through fermentation to infuse flavour and aroma into the finished beer, resulting in a brew with more hop character than ever before. The precisely measured addition of priming sugar, included, ensures the correct level of carbonation is achieved for each particular style of beer.
What is Best Bitter?
Bitters are ales; the English term bitter is generally equivalent to a pale ale. Pale ales are crafted from pale malt, and many varieties are characterized by a significant hop presence. The term bitter refers to the bitterness inherent in their hoppy character when compared to other beers like stouts and porters. In the 20th century, bitter became the most popular type of draught beer in British pubs and earned the description of “the national drink of England”. In Scotland, bitter is labelled as either “light” or “heavy” based on strength, color, and body. Traditionally, bitter is served cask-conditioned or in bottles/cans. British brewers have several loose names for variations in beer strength, such as ordinary, best, special, extra special, and premium. The difference between an ordinary and a best bitter is that one particular brewery’s best bitter will usually be stronger than its ordinary, and premium bitter stronger again. Hop levels will vary within each subgroup, though there is a tendency for the hops in the session bitter group to be more noticeable.

Tips
We strongly recommend using Pure Brew with this kit in order to achieve a commercial quality. Pure Brew is a professional beer enhancer. It feeds the yeast with essential nutrients, which supercharge the fermentation and support yeast development (even in limited oxygen conditions).Additionally, Pure Brew treats brewing water, eliminating problems caused by Chlorine and Chloramine, which can create a medicinal or, as it is sometimes referred to, a “homebrew” taste. Achieving optimum results in brewing critically depends on the condition of brewing water, but this important area is often overlooked. By using Pure Brew, you can effectively and easily condition brewing water, and maximise effective fermentation.
The addition of beer finings will improve the final quality of your beer. Finings such as Harris Beer Brite will help your beer to clear quickly and the sediment will be more likely to stay at the bottom of bottles or barrels. If you are using Corny Kegs then it is important to clear the beer as much as possible before kegging. Beer Finings will promote a faster and more efficient fall out of sediment and haze particles prior to kegging. Harris Starbrite is a highly effective vegan-friendly beer fining, which is rapidly becoming a firm favourite with home brewers.
