Description

Festival Golden Stag Summer Ale

Festival Golden Stag Summer Ale is a super premium, 3kg beer kit. Everything you need to make a superb ale is included in the box (except water). The Golden Stag Summer Ale is a beautiful crisp Golden Ale with a white head. It bursts with citrus hop character and offers a very refreshing dry bitterness. The hops included in the kit are Cascade and Columbus, which provide hop flavours and aromas with a hint of tropical fruit, mangoes, passion fruit, and nectarines.

Golden Ale is a very popular style in the UK and this kit will produce a beer that you can be proud of. Includes a 50g sachet of hop pellets to achieve a stunning hop aroma, and provides a 110g sachet of priming sugar to ensure proper conditioning of bottles or barrels. Hop bitterness of the Golden Stag Summer Ale is 4 (on a scale of 1-5). The kit produces 40 pints of beer with a target alcohol content of 4.5% ABV (approx)

Festival Premium Ale Kits also contain hop pellets and priming sugar. The hop pellets mare simply added halfway through fermentation infusing flavour and aroma into the finished beer resulting in a beer with more hop character than ever before. Including the precisely measured addition of priming sugar ensures the correct level of carbonation is achieved for each particular style of beer.

What is Golden Ale?

Golden Ale is an easy-drinking beer that is visually appealing and has no dominating malt or hop characteristic. Crafted to be rounded and smooth, Golden Ales are exclusively made with pale malt, ensuring there are no roasted, darker malts to impede the hops. The result is a beer style that positively bursts with tangy, zesty, and citrus hop flavours.

The growing popularity of Golden Ales has been attributed to younger drinkers turning away from lagers. Roger Protz, editor of The Good Beer Guide called the trend “a remarkable turnaround. A few small brewers in the 1980s launched golden ales because they didn’t have the right equipment to make lager but wanted to introduce younger drinkers to the delights of paler beers. Since then the style has gone from strength to strength.

Tips

Harris Pure Brew - 5 DoseWe strongly recommend using Pure Brew with this kit in order to achieve a commercial quality. Pure Brew is a professional beer enhancer. It feeds the yeast with essential nutrients, which supercharge the fermentation and support yeast development (even in limited oxygen conditions). Additionally, Pure Brew treats brewing water, eliminating problems caused by Chlorine and Chloramine, which can create a medicinal or, as it is sometimes referred to, a “homebrew” taste. Achieving optimum results in brewing critically depends on the condition of brewing water, but this important area is often overlooked. By using Pure Brew, you can effectively and easily condition brewing water, and maximise effective fermentation.

The addition of beer finings will improve the final quality of your beer. Finings such as Harris Beer Brite will help your beer to clear quickly and the sediment will be more likely to stay at the bottom of bottles or barrels. If you are using Corny Kegs then it is important to clear the beer as much as possible before kegging. Beer Finings will promote a faster and more efficient fall out of sediment and haze particles prior to kegging. Harris Starbrite is a highly effective vegan-friendly beer fining, which is rapidly becoming a firm favourite with home brewers.
