Still Spirits Classic 8 Turbo Yeast
Classic 8 is the best all rounder Turbo Yeast, performing excellently under most conditions. Use with 8 kg of sugar for high ABV, or 6 kg of sugar for fast fermenting. Classic has been further improved with the inclusion of new mineral absorbents, further improving distillate quality. We recommend you use Turbo Carbon as it will significantly improve the performance of Classic 8 Turbo.
When is it best to use this yeast?
The best still to make use of this yeast is a reflux type still, like the T500 or the Air Still Pro. For these type of stills, the higher the %abv in the spirit wash, the more alcohol will be produced from the still. If you are using a pot still like the Air Still, we recommend using the Pure yeast as this will produce a higher quality final spirit.
How much sugar to add
The quantity of sugar you add will determine the final strength of the fermented spirit wash.
6Kg sugar. This will produce a spirit wash with a 14.5% abv. Add 21 litres of water at 40C (104F) in your fermenter and add the sugar. Stir until dissolved and leave in a room with the air temperature is between 18-30C (64-86F). It should take 3 days to ferment at 18C (64F) and 2 days at 30C (86F)
8Kg sugar. This will produce a spirit wash with a 20% abv. Add 20 litres of water at 30C (86F) in your fermenter and add the sugar. Stir until dissolved and leave in a room with the air temperature is between 16-25C (61-77F). It should take 10 days to ferment at 16C (61F) and 5 days at 25C (77F)
