Top Shelf Distilling Conditioner
Distilling Conditioner is a de-foaming agent which when added to your wash in the still boiler before distilling, releases carbon dioxide and stops foaming of un-fermented sugars during distillation.
Why is it important to use conditioner?
The sole purpose of the distilling conditioner is to prevent a foam building up in the still during the boiling process. Without it, there is a chance that 2 things could happen:
1. The foam could enter the condensing part of your still and either could leave residue in and block the alcohol vapours from condensing properly or cause a back pressure spoiling the alcohol coming out.
2. The foam head may even lift of the lid if it is not secured down. This allows all the lovely alcohol vapour you have been producing to be let out into the air and vanish.
By adding the distiller’s conditioner, this helps prevent these problems.
How much do you use?
If you have a small table top still like the Air Still, then 1 cap full of distilling conditioner in the 4 litres of wash will be fine. If you have a large still like the T500, then 3 cap fulls will prevent the foaming.
